Our current activities center in promoting critical thinking and an open intellectual atmosphere in Minnesota’s colleges and universities. Our most visible effort these days is the formation of the Tocqueville Center at the University of Minnesota. The Tocqueville Center will present at least one lecture or debate every semester, usually involving nationally prominent figures. All of these programs are free and open to the public. Graduate and undergraduate students are especially encouraged to attend.

We are in the process of establishing MAS chapters on other campuses throughout the state, and affiliated Tocqueville Centers. If you are interested in setting up an MAS affiliate on your campus, contact ExecDir@MNscholars.org.

Each spring we have our annual membership dinner, with a particularly notable speaker. At this dinner, we also have a short business meeting during which we elect board members for the following year. A modest charge is involved for the dinner. “Scholarships” are available for students who otherwise would not be able to attend.

Finally, we are actively trying to build our endowment, to ensure that our efforts will extend into the indefinite future. Please click here to learn How to Donate.
